    Woman and Child Development Department

    Introduction

    ICDS was established in the year 2 Oct, 1975. There are total 14 divisions in Zilla Parishad Buldana. Among them, women and child welfare department is an important department. Individual and collective schemes are implemented through this department in accordance with the rules and conditions set by the government to raise the educational and economic level of Poor, widowed, divorced and economically weaker section and backward class women through the women and child welfare subject committee through the grants received from the government and the Zilla Parishad.

    Objectives

    • The major objective of Integrated Child Development Service Scheme are as follows
    • . Improving the health and nutrition status of children under 6 years of age to do
    • To lay the foundation for well-balanced mental, physical and social development of children.
    • Reducing sudden infant mortality, preventing malnutrition and school dropout.
    • Coordinating for ensuring and implementing policies among various government departments implementing various government initiatives and schemes for the development of children in the state.
    • Providing information and training on health and nutrition values to mothers of young children in the state to enhance their child rearing capabilities.
    • Providing nutritious food to mothers of young children and pregnant women as well

    Major services provided to the beneficiaries under the scheme

    • Supplemental nutrition – Nutritional nutrition and hot fresh food is provided at Anganwadi home to children, pregnant women, lactating mothers from 6 months to 6
    • Immunization – In this service, children aged 0 to 6 years, pregnant women, lactating mothers are given in Anganwadi center through Health Department.
    • Health Checkup – In this service 4 checkups of children aged 0 to 6 years, pregnant women, lactating mothers are done in Anganwadi center in coordination with Integrated Child Development Service Scheme and Health Department.
    • Referral Health Care – These services include acutely underweight children, sick children, pregnant women, etc. Referral services are provided by sending lactating mothers to the nearest sub-center, primary health center, rural hospital for treatment as per their need.
    • Pre-School Education – This service provides pre-school education to children between 3 to 6 years of age in Anganwadi Centers to achieve physical and social development as well as to create joy in school education. A size curriculum has been set for this.
    • In this nutrition and health education service, adolescent girls and women in the age group of 15 to 45 years are given health education about nutrition and health in order to achieve child development.
