Maharashtra Right to Public Service Act 2015
The Maharashtra Right to Public Service Act, 2015 has been passed to provide transparent, expeditious and time-bound delivery of notified services by the government and all public authorities under the government to the citizens of the state of Maharashtra. Implemented since 28.04.2015. It aims to provide accessible and time-bound services to the citizens.
The Maharashtra State Commission for Right to Service has been constituted under the said Act with one Chief Commissioner and six Commissioners to supervise, co-ordinate, control and suggest amendments in respect of the above notified services being provided to the citizens. The headquarters of the commission is located in the New Administrative Building, opposite Mantralaya, Mumbai, and the offices of the commissioners are located in six divisional headquarters.
If eligible citizens do not receive the specified service within the prescribed time or if the service is denied without valid reasons, they may file a first and second appeal with senior authorities. If still unsatisfied, they can make a third appeal to the Commission. A penalty of up to Rs. 5,000/- per case can be imposed on the responsible officer for negligence.

Citizens can apply for these services online through the “Aaple Sarkar” portal. On this portal, users can apply for various services, check the status of their applications, and download certificates.
