    Animal Husbandry Department

    Animal Husbandry Department was established in Maharashtra in 1882. Animal Husbandry Department is an important department under Zilla Parishad, Jalna. Animal husbandry has been recognized for years as a major adjunct to agriculture. Animal breeding, protection from various diseases, animal nutrition, animal management and animal parasite management are the main parts of animal husbandry. Animal Husbandry Department has played a significant role in the economic development of the cattle breeders in the rural areas. Animal Husbandry Department plays an important role for the upliftment of the society and helps in increasing the national income. Animal Husbandry Scheme 20th May is celebrated as “Animal Husbandry Day”. This department is implementing various schemes related to animal husbandry.

    The business of animal husbandry is a business that accelerates the rural economic cycle by creating inputs for agriculture, the social prestige of the individual and family loyalty.    The livestock department has always played a major role in keeping Maharashtra on the path of progress. The Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department has always been at the forefront of contributing to the development of advanced and advanced Maharashtra, taking responsibility for the upbringing, conservation and development of this livestock. Today, the winds of development and progress are blowing rapidly in rural areas. The Animal Husbandry Department has been active and committed through various initiatives and schemes to further accelerate the economic cycle of rural Maharashtra through the implementation of various schemes, research and animal husbandry related activities through dhavalkranti.

    The Animal Husbandry Department will be committed to topping the state in the process of production of animal products, creating more and more animal husbandry industries and self-employment opportunities, promoting the growth of qualitative livestock over quantitative livestock, and increasing the prevalence of modern animal husbandry across the state through timely innovative technologies.     Animal Husbandry Department A total of 60 veterinary clinics are functioning under Zilla Parishad Jalna, out of which 37 are category-I and 23 are category-II veterinary clinics.

    • According to the 20th Livestock Census in Jalna district, the livestock are as follows:
    • Cow class – 421975
    • Buffalo class – 19379
    • Goat and Sheep – 331522

    Medical care facilities are provided by veterinary clinics working for the above livestock and fodder seeds, pesticides, salts and mixtures are supplied to the cattle farmers for fodder production through various schemes through the present department.

    The animals are vaccinated by the animal husbandry department.

    For cattle farmers, various types of schemes are implemented by the Animal Husbandry Department under District Annual Plan, Special Component Scheme, Zilla Parishad Cess, through which the cattle farmers can do agriculture-friendly business and raise their financial status.

    Objective Tasks

    Conservation of animal genetic resources, conservation of indigenous breeds, protection, strengthening and improvement of livestock, generation of employment opportunities and livelihood support for women and other marginalized groups, production, productivity and utilization of livestock and poultry products.
